Jan Holgersson

Professional Experience 

Jan has for more than 40 years done academic research within the fields of glycobiology, xenobiology, transplantation immunology and cell therapy. He has since 2009 been a senior consultant in clinical immunology and since 2011 he is responsible for the Tissue Typing Lab and, between 2011 and 2019, also the Stem Cell Lab at Sahlgrenska university hospital. He has held various leadership positions including being the head of Department of Clinical Immunology and Transfusion Medicine at Sahlgrenska university hospital for 7 years. He is currently the Vice Dean for infrastructure and facilities at the Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg. Jan has co-founded four biotech companies and serves on the board of two of these, in one case as the chairman. Jan has been the main supervisor for 10 graduated PhDs and 1 graduated licentiate student, and co-supervisor for 5 graduated PhDs.

MD (1986) and PhD (1991), University of Gothenburg, 3 years of post-doctoral training Mass General Hospital/Harvard Medical School. Associate professor, Karolinska Institutet, 1998 and Professor of Transplantation Immunology, University of Gothenburg, 2010.
